You Can Contribute to these Archives

If you would like to contribute articles about Village Creek, your own remembrances or recollections, vintage photographs of the early years, any videos or audio files you might have, or would simply like to contact us, please write us (we're all Village Creek residents and volunteers) at villagecreekblog@gmail.com. If you wish to submit materials for the 60th anniversary book and related materials, you can also contact: MarciaLPowell@aol.com or DebKreterVC@gmail.com

Soon you'll be contacted by one of the members of the various 60th anniversary committees for your own memories of Village Creek. Start thinking about your very best memories, people who were important to you, friends and neighbors who inspired you, favorite views, walks, activities and anecdotes that still bring a smile to your face. We have plenty of storage capacity on our blog, and we'd love to share your thoughts and images with Creekers past and current - and future, too.

Creative Creekers – are you or have you been involved in the arts or another creative field (architecture, art, dance, film, furniture design, graphic design, industrial design, interior design, jewelry design, landscape design, literature, music, other) – either professionally or as an amateur? If so, please send a paragraph or two about your creative pursuits while living in VC and/or beyond.

Social Activism – are you or have you been involved with political, social, community, other activism – either professionally or otherwise. If so please send a paragraph or two about your involvement while living in VC and/or beyond.

Memories – if you sent photos/written memories for the 50th anniversary book, we still have those materials. We also have information and photos that were sent to assist with the state and national historic listing nominations. Additional memories are welcome.

Here's what we're looking for:

  1. I am a Grandmama! My son, Mike, (known as a child as Skipper) had a baby boy on May 26th in Fairfax VA.. I drove down quickly and was there in the lobby when the baby was born.

He is 7 lbs and 20 inches with long feet, toes and fingers, so we suspect he might be tall.

  2. My earliest memoery of living in Village Creek was when I was three years old. We had just moved in to our newly built house. I was walking to the playground with my neighbor, Nancy Karg. We were freshly bathed and wearing shorty pajamas with matching bottoms. I remember feeling so grown up walking along the road with my new friend. It was a magical place and every year I would get poison ivy going into our "hideout" near the tennis courts-bushes of honeysuckle set along the road. We would hide in there and spy on people walking by. I love summers-there were so many kids my age. We would congregate every day at the play ground and play "Steal the Bacon", kickball, punchball, etc. I was one of the last ones picked for a team because I was not a very good athlete. However, I made up for it by being an awesome dancer-still am-now I Tango and Tap!So there all you jocks! Stevie and David M. and Bill S. who were the older kids and "big shots" at the time.
