Soon you'll be contacted by one of the members of the various 60th anniversary committees for your own memories of Village Creek. Start thinking about your very best memories, people who were important to you, friends and neighbors who inspired you, favorite views, walks, activities and anecdotes that still bring a smile to your face. We have plenty of storage capacity on our blog, and we'd love to share your thoughts and images with Creekers past and current - and future, too.
Creative Creekers – are you or have you been involved in the arts or another creative field (architecture, art, dance, film, furniture design, graphic design, industrial design, interior design, jewelry design, landscape design, literature, music, other) – either professionally or as an amateur? If so, please send a paragraph or two about your creative pursuits while living in VC and/or beyond.
Social Activism – are you or have you been involved with political, social, community, other activism – either professionally or otherwise. If so please send a paragraph or two about your involvement while living in VC and/or beyond.
Memories – if you sent photos/written memories for the 50th anniversary book, we still have those materials. We also have information and photos that were sent to assist with the state and national historic listing nominations. Additional memories are welcome.
Here's what we're looking for:
Written memories from Creekers of all ages (1949-present) -- possible topics:
- Why you moved to VC.
- Why VC was/is a special place to grow up.
- Friendships that have lasted through the years.
- On the water – boating/fishing memories.
- VC gardens – your gardening memories.
- Special memories of foods served at VC events.
- Your funniest memory.
- Your fondest memory.
- The non-family member you remember most and why.
- If someone in VC inspired you/served as a mentor, who and how?
- Anything else that you’d like to share.
VC photos/videos (1949-present) – if possible, please scan your photos and send on a CD or DVD:
- Building homes (construction photos)
- Original views from homes
- Views from homes now
- Families through the years
- Boaters/fishing through the years
- Gardens through the years
- Friends through the years
- Activities through the years
- Then-and-now photos of 2nd/3rd generation Creekers
We also will be posting information here (as well as other sites, and through the regular mail) about the upcoming 60th anniversary celebration this year.
